How to improve communication skills

Well, beta.. I am super happy to know that are trying to work on it because most students don’t. Our country is so exam oriented that 90% of the students blindly work for CAT and never work on these things which actually matter more than CAT. I have known 99%ilers getting rejected due to poor communication skills while 92%ilers go selected in the same college that very same year. The only reason: b-schools want leaders and not toppers. So, once shortlist is done, their entire focus is on identifying people with great communication skills and personality. A good CAT score helps you land an interview call, but no matter how good your score is - you can not convert the call, unless you have great communication skills. How do you develop these things - if you have extra-curricular things or events happening in your college, participate in them. If there are clubs or societies, be very very active part of them. But if there are no such opportunities in your college, then you will have to find them outside. If you have Toastmasters in your city, you are lucky. You should join them immediately. It's a free to join organization and I have known students who got the chance to be mentored by VPs, CXOs and Editors of big-name magazines there. You can also start writing something (a book, blogs, stories) just for your own improvement. If there is no Toastmasters or other similar club, then find an NGO in your vicinity and volunteer with them with this firm decision that you will not expect any certificate from them because certificates will only help you psychologically while actual work will really transform your personality.
