Indian b-schools don’t look at your profile beta, Period. So, If you want to learn something to build a good profile, I have a bad news for you - even if you learn them all, their total contribution to your profile will be zero.
This is a myth spread by some of those coaching institutes who try to make money off students’ fears. With the exception of ISB and SP Jain, almost all Indian b-schools look at only your 10th and 12th scores and your work-ex in the name of your profile. Some look at your gender and category as well. But you can’t control any of these things except your work-ex, and since you are in college, you can’t do anything about that either.
Indian b-schools simply don’t look at your extracurricular, certificates, internships, awards or anything else. Those things help after you reach the b-school but not before that. I have known many students with zero profile value who got into big name IIMs simply because their CAT score was good and their communication was top-notch.
So, stop worrying about profile and start thinking about knowledge, communication and personality. Now, If you want to learn to gain knowledge, however, so that you can maximize your chances of converting the interview and get a good placement at the end of your MBA, then you should learn AI Tools and master communication more than anything else. Data Analytics is and will always be an evergreen field but for that, you will first have to master Maths which in itself is a 1-2 year long journey.
As far as avoiding mistakes is considered mere bachhe, avoid just one thing - don’t follow someone else’s path. Your path has to be unique to your own strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes. Either design your own path for yourself or find someone who works so closely with you that he/she can do it for you, but never blindly follow someone else’s path. Just because XYZ achieved 99%ile by doing something or got a great job by doing something else, does not mean you will also achieve the same by following him blindly. If a fish starts climbing a tree because the monkey did it and became successful, the fish would die and intelligence is knowing that the best path to success for the fish lies through the water, not through the tree.
